In 1903 Henry Huntington purchased the San Marino Ranch, a working ranch with citrus groves, nut and fruit orchards, alfalfa crops, a small herd of cows, and poultry. His superintendent, William Hertrich, was instrumental in developing the various plant collections that comprise the foundation of the botanical gardens. The property—originally nearly 600 acres—today covers 207 acres, of which approximately 120 are landscaped and open to visitors. More than 14,000 different varieties of plants are showcased in more than a dozen principal garden areas. Forty gardeners, a curatorial staff of seven, and more than 100 volunteers maintain the botanical collections, provide interpretive programs for visitors, and propagate plants for special sales.

Wushu Shaolin Productions offers free Weekly Kung Fu classes for enthusiasts who are unable to attend a qualified Wushu or Shaolin Kung Fu school. The classes are designed for anyone interested in learning and is provided free of charge as a global service to the world. In return we hope to spread the teachings of Kung Fu to help enrich the lives of others and promote positive change in the world by bringing practitioners closer together.

Kung Fu Lion Dance Show Elementary School

This is a demonstration featuring the Kung Fu Heroes of South Coast Martial Arts and Wushu Shaolin Productions of Hawthorne CA. The performance was a unique opportunity to introduce elementary school students to the positive activities that exist such as Martial Arts and Acrobatic training. 

The demonstration begins with a traditional Chinese Lion Dance also known as a dragon dance by many. After the Lion Dance we begin a Kung Fu Demonstration featuring Monkey, Tiger, Scorpion, Ditang Mei Hua Quan, and Group Sets. All of these unique styles allow practitioners from all walks of life to develop themselves through martial arts by expressing themselves comfortably.
